Celebrating Chekhov's 150th birthday, Caroline Blakiston's one-woman show is about how she made history as the first British actress to play Chekhov in Russia, in Russian. Black Bread & Cucumber was written by Caroline during 1992-1993, following her unique experience playing Charlotta in The Cherry Orchard in Russian. In December 1994 she won the Golden Globe Award, which is presented at Moscow each year to a foreigner who has made a special contribution to Russian theatre.

Grateful, an evening of musical theatre and uplifting gospel music at Cadogan Hall on Sunday September 12, will feature West End stars, a 20-piece band and the West End Gospel Choir, to raise funds for the ground-breaking Intermission Youth Theatre. New Art Club are back with a boom with their third consecutive show at the Edinburgh Fringe. This latest show, their thirteenth, mixes some of their most sublime moments of elegantr stupidity to demonstrate how the boys have squandered the best years of their lives. This is their greatest hits - and it hurts.

Nucleus Films, a DVD label, was sent up in 2005 by filmmaker JAKE WEST & writer/film researcher MARC MORRIS. They are devoted to bringing rare cult films to the UK as well as producing documentaries and featurettes for DVD.  One of their forthcoming titles is VIDEO NASTIES: THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE, a 3-disc box-set coming out in October 2010. Film director/writer Simon Rumley first burst onto the international film scene in 2006 with his tragi-horror THE LIVING AND THE DEAD, winner of 15 awards worldwide. His latest film is RED WHITE & BLUE, a disturbing, sociopathic study of sex, love and revenge. Starring Noah Taylor, Amanda Fuller and Marc Senter, the film has its UK premiere at Film4 FrightFest in August.

One of the best-known disco divas of the late Eighties and early Nineties, Kym Mazelle is joining  ‘Over The Rainbow’ finalist Steph Fearon, to star in the first major production of the musical ‘Smokey Joe’s Cafe’ since its West End run at the Prince of Wales Theatre in 1996. A musical revue showcasing 39 pop standards, including rock and roll, rhythm and blues songs written by songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, ‘Smokey Joe’s Cafe’ will open at the Landor Theatre, Clapham, on Tuesday 13th July and run for a five-week season until Sunday 15th August. 

The most talked about act of the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe Festival take their hit show to The Soho Theatre, London, this Christmas, performing from 7 Dec - 9 Jan. Not to be missed.
